ISOLAJT DIGITAL PROJECTS
ISOLAJT began as a longing to reconnect with Sicily—the island that first captured my heart through family stories, summer visits, and the quiet pull of heritage. Though my travels have taken me across many islands, each leaving its own subtle imprint on my imagination, Sicily remains the place that shaped me most deeply. As I created this collection, I found myself weaving together the cultures that formed me: Sicilian, Italian, and Canadian. Each piece became a way of exploring those layers—memories of family gatherings, the music of overlapping dialects, the warmth of the Mediterranean set against the landscapes I’ve called home.
What emerged is a visual narrative rooted in the island I fell in love with, enriched by the others I’ve wandered through, and grounded in the life I’m building now. The Sicilian Collection celebrates the essence of Sicily—an island shaped by centuries of myth, conquest, artistry, and unbreakable spirit. Drawing from ancient Greek influences, Arab craftsmanship, Norman architecture, and the timeless Trinacria, these designs honour the layers of history that make our island unlike any other.
More than artistic expressions, these pieces are cultural heirlooms reimagined for the modern world. Every detail carries meaning—a tribute to the resilience, pride, and beauty Sicilians have carried across oceans and through time. As you move through ISOLAJT, you’re stepping into that story: a blend of past and present, homeland and home, all carried forward in an artistic language that continues to evolve with me.

"Trinacria Potente"

The Trinacria is one of Sicily’s most enduring symbols — a powerful emblem whose origins reach back to ancient Greece. Its three bent legs reflect the triangular shape of the island, while the central face traditionally depicts Medusa, the mythological guardian whose presence was believed to protect Sicily from harm. Over centuries, this symbol has become a visual expression of Sicilian identity, blending mythology, geography, and resilience into a single form.

My modern interpretation of the Trinacria honours that legacy while giving it a contemporary voice. I kept Medusa at the center — a nod to the original myth — but reimagined her features within a triangular shape to echo the island’s form more directly. This subtle shift ties the symbol even more closely to Sicily itself, merging ancient meaning with modern design.

The result is a Trinacria that respects its roots while speaking in a new artistic language — a fusion of heritage, mythology, and personal connection to the island that continues to inspire me.
"Sole potente di Sicilia"

The sun has always held a special place in Sicilian culture as a symbol of warmth, vitality, protection, and the fierce spirit of the island. For generations, Sicilians have looked to the sun as a source of life and identity, a constant presence that shapes the land, the people, and the rhythm of everyday life. It represents joy, resilience, and the brightness that defines the island’s character.
My version of the Sicilian sun reimagines this beloved symbol through a whimsical lens. I wanted to capture not just its heat and brilliance, but its personality, the playfulness, the charm, and the sense of magic that Sicily radiates. With softer lines, expressive details, and a touch of fantasy, this sun becomes more than a celestial icon; it becomes a reflection of the island’s soul. This modern interpretation honours the sun’s traditional significance while giving it a fresh, imaginative voice, one that celebrates Sicily’s warmth, spirit, and the joy it continues to inspire.
"Sicilian Goddess IBLA"

Ibla is one of the ancient goddesses associated with the region of Ragusa, a figure tied to fertility, abundance, and the sacred landscapes of southeastern Sicily. Her name lives on in the historic district of Ragusa Ibla, where layers of mythology, devotion, and tradition have shaped the identity of the city for centuries.
To Sicilians, Ibla symbolizes the nurturing spirit of the land, the richness of its soil, the resilience of its people, and the quiet strength that has carried the island through countless eras.My depiction of Ibla draws inspiration from an ancient coin that features her image alongside a bee, a symbol of industry, community, and the sweetness of life.
In my modern interpretation, I placed bees behind her as a tribute to this historic emblem, but also as a reflection of what they represent: harmony, hard work, and the interconnectedness of Sicilian culture.
This artwork reimagines Ibla not just as a mythological figure, but as a living symbol of Sicily’s spirit, a blend of history, devotion, and the enduring beauty that continues to inspire those who trace their roots back to the island.
"Testa di Moro (Donna)"

The Testa di Moro legend is rooted in a tragic love story from medieval Sicily. In the tale, a young Sicilian woman falls in love with a visiting Moorish merchant. When she discovers he plans to leave her and return to his family, the relationship ends in betrayal, anger, and a violent act. The story becomes a symbol of intense emotion, jealousy, and heartbreak.Sicilians transformed this painful legend into art.
Instead of focusing on the violence, the ceramic heads — especially the female figure — represent:Sicilian resilienceThe strength and passion of Sicilian womenThe blending of cultures (Arab, Norman, Mediterranean)A reminder of Sicily’s complex, layered historyOver time, these ceramic heads became symbols of protection, identity, and cultural pride, often displayed on balconies and in gardens.
